There are game franchises that you are in love with and want them keep coming and keep playing them, and at the same time you want them to evolve and get better and better with time. Well for me Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell franchise is one that i am madly in love with and simply can't imagine myself gaming in absence of it.
I got first signs of its departure few days back when i heard the rumour that Splinter Cell: Conviction has gone back to the drawing broad for complete revamping and my heart broke. I always thought that Splinter Cell franchise was on top of the list in ubisoft's priorities but now it seems that likes of Assassin's Creed, GRAW and Prince of Persia have taken its place.
I think ubisoft no longer regards Splinter Cell as its top title but they should always remember that it was due to SC that ubisoft was recognized as a top notch developer. I hope ubisoft recognizes the fact and gives Splinter Cell the attention that it deserves coz its been more than a year now when it was first announced and after that no info has been released about its status and now the rumours of its revamping are shocking.
I loved the new direction that Conviction was taking Splinter Cell franchise into and assurance of the fact that series was evolving. I can only hope that Conviction remains on the same track that it promised and ubisoft would give some conclusive info about its condition in the upcoming Ubidays and doesn't disappoints thousands of its hardcore fans.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
I too am deeply troubled by all this. Splinter Cell: Conviction and Bioshock were the reasons I got my 360 - I've always loved the Splinter Cell series (well, the ones that Ubi Montreal made) and I was really looking forward to this one. Officially I think it is still under development, and I'm still looking forward to it - I'm especially interested to see this A.I. that the PS3 apparently can't do.
I agree with the blog, i loved the SC games. When the 1st one came out i thought it was the best stealth game available (better than MGS series) and the SC series only got better until double agent. It was ok but i felt that the third one (chaos theory) was the best of them all with its co-op levels.
I'll be getting conviction but i dont have high hopes.
yeah i also agree that chaos theory was the high point of SC series but i thought conviction would take the series to a new level for good(most sc lovers won't agree with me)
Splinter Cell has not become a second grade game in the Ubisoft HQ. Merely the fact they send it back to the drawing board is because the game as far as it got to, sucked. Just check Youtube for some gameplay trailers as I doubt there are official media concerning SC: Conviction.
It sucked so hard, the hopefully scrapped 90% of what is shown there, and make it a real SC game. Not some mediocre semi-innovative pre-gen piece of crap which will ruin the franchise.
Be happy and keep your fingers crossed for something good.
Splinter Cell is just getting stale. For some reason UbiSoft feels the need to churn a sequel out every year. Ubisoft does this w/ a lot of games (Tom Clancy, here's lookin at you). I mean, does anyone think RB6LV2 was a good idea?
